Two Upper Marboros, One Kitchen Crew
Upper Marlboro wears two faces: the historic county seat town with homes going back a century, and the surrounding suburbs of colonials and ramblers from the 70s onward. We remodel kitchens in both, and they could not be more different. The town homes need the old-house touch — plaster, quirks, character preserved. The suburban homes need the classic update — oak retired, layouts opened, storage modernized.
In the historic neighborhoods near Main Street, kitchens live in houses with real age: narrow stairs, small rooms, walls that have been moved before. We approach these like archaeology with a purpose — opening walls carefully, preserving trim worth saving, and designing kitchens that suit the house's scale. A farmhouse sink and shaker cabinets feel inevitable here, not themed.
The Suburban Side
Out in the subdivisions, it is the familiar story: good houses, tired kitchens. The 70s–90s colonials get the full modernization — cabinets to the ceiling, stone counters, islands where the floor plan allows, lighting in layers. Many of these homes have the space for a proper eat-in area or a keeping room off the kitchen, and we design those transitions so the addition of seating does not steal the workspace.
Country Kitchens, Honestly Done
Upper Marlboro's setting invites the farmhouse look, and we do it without the clichés: real shaker cabinets instead of distressed gimmicks, a proper apron sink, open shelving used sparingly where it is practical, and warm wood tones that suit the landscape. It is a style that ages well because it was never really a trend — it is just a comfortable kitchen.
